Design Process

Initial Steps
We firmly believe that each project must reflect the tastes and needs of you and your family or staff, and we will work very hard to achieve that objective! We will spend a significant amount of time in getting to know you, what you like and dislike, how you want your space to function, and what kind of budget you are comfortable with. All of this initial information really sets the stage for us being able to achieve the very best results for your project! Here are just a few of the extra steps that we take to make sure that your design process is easy, enjoyable and successful….

Beginning Your Project
Prior to our first meeting and to make the most of our time together, there is some prep work that you can do to help us gain a better understanding of your project.

When you book your first appointment with Design 360, you will receive an Information Packet in the mail which contains a wealth of information about how we work, examples of our previous projects, and design survey(s) pertinent to your requested project. These survey(s) allow us to understand details of your decorating preferences, lifestyle, and how you will use your new space. Please take a few minutes prior to our first appointment, to fill out the design surveys that are sent out in that Information Packet. Our design team will work use them as a basis to incorporate that feedback, special requests, and your ideas to create the ultimate unique and beautiful space that you desire.

We’d love it if you would start collecting pictures of colors, styles, and looks you like for your space. In addition, please think about how you want and need your space to function, what elements of the space will change and what will stay the same, and what you want the overall end result to “feel” like.

Please establish a target budget for the project. The budget is vitally important for us to know before we go to the drawing board, so that we can get the best value for your dollar within a budgetary range that you are comfortable with. As an example of how wide-ranging budgets can be, custom window treatments can range from $250.00- $1000.00 or more per window, and a 200 sq. ft. kitchen remodel can range from $20,000-$150,000.00, so you can see how important it is for us to know your personal target range. Once you have established where you want to be budget-wise, please share that with us and we will work hard to achieve the maximum results within the limits of that budget.

If you are remodeling or building and working with a contractor or architect, please be sure to have a copy of the floor plan with you for our first meeting.

Consultation
The first meeting will be in your home, unless you are in the early stages of building, in which case we will meet either in our studio or your current residence.

Our initial consultation is complimentary, and usually consists of 1-2 hours, during which time we discuss your project, a budget you are comfortable with, your likes and dislikes, and preliminary design ideas. This appointment allows us to gather lots of important information about your specific project, as well as for you to ask questions about our company or design process and for you to decide if we are the right design team for you.

For small projects, we gather as much information as possible prior to the first appointment so that we can come prepared to begin looking at product options, and the design and decision-making process may even be completed during this first consultation.

For larger projects, we will ask you at the end of our first meeting to determine if you want us to continue with more in-depth design and consultation time, with plans to meet again for a design presentation a week or two later. If so, at that point we begin keeping track of the hours that we invest in your project; if for some reason you do not end up purchasing products from us, then those hours are billed out at the rate of $75.00/hour.

HOWEVER, if you order the products needed to complete your design within 60 days of our recommendations, all of our design time and services are included at no extra cost to you!

Please also note that, in the case of new construction/remodeling projects involving cabinetry, the chronology of this process may be slightly different, and we will discuss with you as we go.

Once design recommendations are finalized and you are ready to purchase products, there will be a 60% deposit required to order product. Upon delivery and or installation of the products, the remaining 40% is due.
